Soak in the Sulphur Springs & Mud Baths
Visit Sulphur Springs Park in Soufrière for a tour of the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano. When you’re done, lather up in the detoxifying mud and have a soak in the mineral-rich hot springs. It’s a rejuvenating experience that will leave your skin feeling luxuriously refreshed and silky smooth.
Take in the Street Party at Gros Islet
Have you heard about the Gros Islet Street Party? Every Friday night the area transforms into the Caribbean’s longest running, iconic jump-up, lasting well into the early hours. Local restaurants like Duke’s Place and bars serve delectable local dishes and drinks alongside street vendors selling jewelry and local crafts. Visitors and locals converge on the area, gathering by the booming speakers that blast soca, reggae, and global tunes moving through the streets, drinks in hand, dancing, dining, and soaking in the electric island energy. Arrive early for dining and shopping or late to party and get on bad!
Appreciate the Majesty of the Pitons
You don’t need to get up close and personal to appreciate the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site. The iconic Pitons, Gros Piton and Petit Piton, are insta worthy from pretty much anywhere along the south west coast. If you’re up for it, you can hit Gros Piton with a guide (heads up: it’s a challenging hike!)
Zipline through the Rainforest
Beyond the fetein’ of St. Lucia Carnival, explore the adventurous side of the island high above the treetops. There are lots of tours that let you zip-line through St. Lucia’s rainforest canopy as you take in the beauty below. If you’d like a more relaxed way to experience the rainforest, you can opt for a tram ride through the jungle.
Snorkel or Dive the Coral Reef

Do a Chocolate, Rum, or Wine Experience
Perfect for chocolate lovers, St. Lucia is famed for its cacao! Try a chocolate-making tour at Hotel Chocolat, a tree-to-bar chocolate experience where you’ll learn all about the process of making chocolate as you savor delectable creations. Located on the south end of the island, it is soooo worth the visit (as we’ve experienced first hand).
Like most Caribbean islands, St. Lucia has a rich heritage making spirits, especially rum, so why not try a rum tasting or tour? During our visit we fell in LOVE with Marigot Bay’s Coffee Rum Cream and honorable mention goes to Admiral Rodney’s HMS brand.
What separates St. Lucia from other Caribbean islands is its legacy of wine production (courtesy of the early French influence). Expect to see wine booths at many of the fetes and you can book a wine tour to indulge in the local wine culture.
Shop the Castries Market & Taste Local Flavors
Even though the St. Lucia Carnival Parade passes through Castries, don’t skip an additional trip to the Castries Market. There you’ll find souvenirs, crafts, local spices, and stalls where you can try local dishes like green fig and saltfish, among other. It’s the perfect way to stock up on souvenirs for your friends and family back home as you experience a bit of the local culture and support the local artisans.
